1926 International Doodlebug
low

This is a 1926 international 1-1/2ton truck that was converted into a doodlebug in 1933. It was built specifically to mow the sides of the roads in a Connecticut during the great depression. It has the original IH 4 speed transmission with a second Ford TT transmission and rear end. The mower is a McCormick deering horse drawn mower that is run off the pto of the second transmission. The machine originally had a vacuum operated lift to lower and raise the sickle bar. My father and I dragged this out of the woods approximately 15 years ago where it had sat for at least 5 decades. It does run and the mower does work. I have the cylinder for the lift but unfortunately the state of the engine is too poor to consider putting it on. Just figured I would share some depression era engineering and a piece of Americana.

Help with my McCormick Deering W6 (sorry for the long post)
low

So I’m only 16 and have never owned to fixed my own tractor before so my dad has been helping me but we’re at an impasse, the tractor was originally a 6v electrical system but was converted into a 12v, but I got a replacement distributor that is 6v, only battery I have is a 12v so I rigged a resistor to not blow stuff up. I had the battery rigged on it as a negative ground but then switched it, which then caused a wire that ran from the alternator (not the original generator to be on the tractor) to the starter to start melting and smoking. I took the wire off so it wouldn’t melt through and short, and the alternator isn’t even hooked up in the first place. But after doing so, whenever the battery gets hooked up the tractor starts turning over, the starter isn’t pushed in and there are no wires touching anywhere that they shouldn’t but no matter what I do it turns over, it doesn’t start but it turns over, does anyone know why the tractor is doing this? (Again sorry for the long post) (I also didn’t know what subreddit to go to so I posted it here)

Help identify my papa’s old tractor please
low

Trying to find out what year this tractor is. And to verify what make and model. My guess is a McCormick super w6. Pretty sure is a gas engine. This is the serial plate on the tractor. Any help is appreciated.
