Known Issues
This is the steepest part of my long driveway and I’ve been struggling with snow removal. My tractor (MF 1529 w/loaded rear tires) is stored at the bottom of the hill (where the red line is) and I drive up backwards with the snow blower on the 3 point hitch. I can clear all the way up to the top without issue in most cases - sometimes my R4 tires slip before I make it all the way. After clearing that, I usually salt the steep section to prevent ice buildup. The area by the garage where my truck is parked is where I chicken out. The transition from the driveway to the slope leading to the parking area scares the hell out of me. I’ve been clearing that by hand or with a walk behind blower because I’ve been afraid of rolling the tractor. I recently upgraded to a 1M cab tractor w/loaded R14 tires and I’m even more paranoid about destroying my brand new machine in the coming winter 😬 Looking for any advice on proper driving technique to use here. My thought is that the safest way is to drive down and back the tractor up into the parking area with all the weight of the blower and my loaded tires up hill and the FEL low on the downhill side. Obviously that would put the blower in the right place to clear it out, but it feels sketchy with the slope in both directions and I have always chickened out in the past. Am I crazy? Thank you! 🙏
