Stupid question I should know the answer to: What's the best/right way to prepare a field for planting after moldboard plowing it? I've been using an ancient JD disk, an electrical pole, an old section of a wire corn crib, and a bunch of log chains to hook it all together, but I can never get it anything like flat. My disk is shot, should I replace it with something other than a better disk? Whatever I get will be pulled behind a MF 1105, and cover up to 15-20 acres twice a year. I'm milking cows, so cheap matters. I don't think I'll be buying anything new.
