Can't Get My Rider to Start
low

I purchased a very used John Deere LA105, used it twice and haven't been able to get it to start back up. There was white smoke coming out, so I figured it was a blown head gasket. I've changed the oil, changed the oil, air, and gas filters, changed the head gasket, put in a brand new carburetor, and changed the battery. Still won't start. Whit the head cover off, I noticed a crap ton of oil spurting out. I've read that this is normal, but the amount seems excessive. This can be seen in the video. Today, I can see some oil spurting out a bit and the cover is on. Also, some faint smoke...this is while attempting to start it. Please help!!

JD LA105 Mower... Engine Kaput?
low

We just bought property down da bayou, 28 acres, 4 of which is dry land, half of that is cleared and mowed, with a house on it. Under the raised up house was a somewhat rough around the edges John Deere mower. I had to replace the mower deck and do a few other things but I was able to keep it running and cutting without too much drama, and worth the price, which was zero, and a complete mower deck. I probably put 20 hours on it, mostly mowing grass but also a little light brush at the edges of the wooded area. Moderately heavy use, I guess you would say, not like mowing a suburban golf course quality lawn, but not like hard core brush hogging, either. Anyway yesterday I mowed our property and I thought I would do our absentee next door neighbor a good deed, since his yard guy quit coming around a few months ago, and I started mowing his place, about an acre, thick grass and weeds. Mower stopped dead about a half hour into the job. I couldn't restart it. I pushed it home and started working on it this morning. Jump start... solenoid clicks but nothing else happens. Tried bypassing the solenoid, no joy. Removed the spark plug in case a valve was stuck or something, still wouldn't turn over. Tried turning the engine with a ratchet, and I was BARELY able to turn it even with the spark plug out. Way too much resistance, I am thinking. The starter just won't budge it. Oil is between the marks, not pale golden honey but not black, gritty, or sludgy, either. It has often needed jump starting from my pickup truck after sitting for a week or so, and I am wondering if I have maybe a seized crankshaft bearing or a bent crankshaft. I have no idea how old it is. It did seem to want to stall a bit too easy but the exhaust is usually pretty clear. So I guess what I need to know is if my inexpert diagnosis seems logical, and if it is worth it to take it to a shop. Nearest place is up in Thibodaux, about 25 miles. Would just replacing the engine with numbah one grade Chinesium...

Carburetor help - LA105
low

11/10 update - replaced carburetor and spark plug (again to be safe), drained all of the fuel and put in ethanol free. Still no luck. It starts for 1 second with starting fluid sprayed in the intake but immediately dies. Something in the fuel line?? I’m confused. Hi all - my John Deere LA105 is having issues turning over or running cleanly if I get it to start. I’ve replaced the battery, spark plug, oil/oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and have tried starting spray, carb choke and sea foam. I *think* it’s a carburetor issue, which is what I feared because I’ve never messed with one at all. I have a new carburetor ready to go but a little hesitant because I’ve never replaced one and I know there are certain small pieces in the throttle body that can’t be screwed up. I couldn’t find any real helpful videos but are there certain things I should look out for before jumping into this? Any advice helps, thank you!
