I bought a John Deere L118 in 2007. Right now it has 375 hours on it. It starts every time, no smoke and a great lawn tractor. I'm thinking of buying a new one, with an easier to use deck, that can switch from mulch to bag easier than I do now. My neighbors have Cub Cadet, nothing but complaints.
