PTO shear key or bolt failure after blower binding
high

PTO would not engage after blower fan became loose and crooked, with shaft coming out of one side. User suspects binding caused a shear key or safety pin to break. PTO gear shows no movement when engaged, but seat safety switch still functions.

CA: John Deere Review by Paul from North Saanich, BC (4/5 stars) On side

On side hills grass not cut evenly. Battery failed prematurely. Also so did the switch for the mower which failed twice. Other than that I am happy with my D170.

PTO blade engagement intermittent failure during mowing
medium

Mower blades stop turning mid-operation as if PTO disengaged, though engine continues running. PTO becomes non-responsive with only intermittent 1-2 second engagement when switch activated. Issue appears related to seat safety switch malfunction causing inconsistent PTO power delivery.
