My D120 John Deere lawnmower is just over 3 years old (bought Mar 2012). It is stored in a shed, so it's protected when not in use. My aunt was graciously mowing my grass on 6/19/15, when she ran out of gas. She turned off the mower, leaving in the backyard, while she went to buy gas. When she returned 15 minutes later, the fire dept. was already on site; witnesses said the mower burst into flames

Head gasket failure reported after 72 hours of operation. Dealership indicated this is a widespread issue with D120 models, noting that most machines fail between 60-72 hours before head gasket failure. Consumer unable to determine if machine will reach 200 hours of operation.

Hi everyone, I am completely new to home ownership, and one of the things the last home owner left for me is a John Deere D120 riding lawn mower. Winter has arrived in my city with heavy snow and I need to winterize the lawn mower. My lawn mower still had about 1.5 gallons of fuel left in the tank. So I bought motomaster concentrated fuel stabilizer. But i misread some instructions and poured in about 3 ounces of fuel stabilizer. Without realizing my mistake, I tried to turn on the engine to try to run the whole fuel+stabilizer mixture through the system. I tried 10 times, but the engine only cranked and made choking sounds...and would stop the moment i let go of the ignition. Did I do serious damage to my D120 lawn mower? If yes, what should i do next? If no, do i just leave things the way they are, then in spring, drain the fuel and pour in new fuel? Thanks
