Riding mower will not start when turning key. Hour meter illuminates but starter solenoid does not engage. Direct wire jump to solenoid enables engine to start. Issue persists after replacing starter solenoid and ignition switch. Suspected faulty relay or safety interlock.

D110 lawn tractor experiencing repeated head gasket failures (at 30 hours and 67 hours). Mechanic confirmed design flaw: single large cylinder engine produces excessive power causing gasket failures. User has replaced gasket twice in three summers despite following maintenance schedule.

I purchased a John Deere D110 series lawn tractor. I used it 6 times and it broke. One of the motor mount bolts broke. I have an acre of lawn to cut - not really a lot. D110 will not start via ignition switch. Hour meter illuminates but starter does not engage. Jumping starter solenoid directly to battery or opposite solenoid terminal causes engine to fire. Issue persists after replacing starter solenoid, ignition switch, and relay on wire loom below ignition switch.

I have a John Deere d110 and so far no problems with it and I have had it for almost 6 years. I would recommend it to anyone who asked. My d110 is powered by a Briggs and Stratton and it runs great. The only thing it needed was a new belt for the mower deck and new oil but that is only maintenance.
