D105 42" mower exhibits transmission shifting problems and loss of movement capability. Issue escalates from occasional to almost continuous within first 40 hours of operation. A recall was issued for the same model and manufacturing period, but some units with identical symptoms were excluded from the recall list. Repair cost exceeds $1200 for a $1500 mower.

After engine operated at abnormally high RPM, the mower will not turn over. Engine attempts to spin approximately a quarter rotation then stops. User has ruled out oil level, spark plug, and battery as causes.

I bought the D105 Ride-on Lawnmower because I was always told that once you own a John Deere you wouldn't want anything else. Well, that was a load of crap. This lawnmower has been maintained since the first oil change. I have had in the shop 3 times for multiple problems. The tires are worthless! I really believe that the parts on this tractor are brought in from China and assembled here in the U
