Hey, hoping to gain from collective wisdom and experience. I recently inherited a 1990’s John Deere 345 (SN M00345C055479) with a 44 inch Piranha mower deck (SN MOO44DA050940) that is set up for mulching. I wasn’t happy with the quality of mulching so I took the deck off, removed and cleaned 25 years worth of dust dirt and grim, removed and sharpened the 6 blades and reassembled everything. I am currently stuck on leveling the mower front to back and side to side. Tire pressure isa 10 psi for all 4 tires. Without much experience I believe that the front of the mower deck is way too low. However before I try to correct that I’d appreciate others opinions. I believe the front of the deck is way too low low because: - When I lower the deck to mow, the front mower wheels make contact with the ground, even when they are on the highest setting. - The front left deck wheel has hit the ground so much the bracket that holds it is bent and misshaped. - The bottom front of the deck has a lot of wear and tear, as if it makes frequent contact with the ground. I got the JD Leveling Gauge for Mower Decks AM130907 but when I follow the instructions with my cutting hight at 2 inches, the deck is too low to fit the gauge under the deck. How do I adjust the front height of the deck? The Operator’s Manual says on Adjusting Mower Level (front-to-rear) “7. loosen two rear nuts on adjusting bolts and turn two front nuts” but I can’t tell where to find this nuts on my machine. How do I know if the height issue is with the adjusting bolts vs the height control dial? I have noticed that the height control dial tends to drift while operating. Thank you!

I tried attaching a video but I think it is too long, yesterday after running the tractor for several hours working on food plots, I was headed back to the shop and the engine started surging, very much like if you were to pull the throttle back and then shove it forward repeatedly. I idled down to cross a creek the. Throttle up and the tractor went dead, I could crank it back up but then I put it in fear it would die out if I quickly took it out of great it would stay running, I eventually got it to crawl its way back to the shop. Any ideals? Fuel filter clogged?

I posted this question before and got a better video of what was happening- was thinking full issue but now I am thinking some sort of sensor- tractor runs fine for a few minutes then starts cutting out, stop take out of gear the it idles just fine- put in gear and it wants to cut off, put back in gear, back to idling fine. Is there a sensor I messing up up or is this still a fuel flow issue.

I have JD 990 with 500 hours, a couple weekends ago I was using it on some food plots and it was running with no issues, was running about 2-3 hours and then we headed back to the shop, on the way it suddenly started surging the engine would throttle back then up, it did this several times until I had to slow down to cross a creek. It died on me but cranked right back up but when I put it into gear it would go dead the staying running when I pulled it out of gear. I was finally able to get it to run and eased it into the shop? Any ideals? Fuel filter?

Hello! Been scouring reddit reviews on mowers and despite the want of the luxurious ride of "Ferris" ZTMs or the coveted performance and reliability of SCAG, I have landed on Kubota as it is equally touted amongst them and there is a great Kubota dealer 5 miles north of my house. I purchased 10 acres, most of it will be mowed with a JohnDeere 770 + Brush hog through my pastures (It came with the property including a "finisher" pull behind), but the shit is from 1990 and though it runs great, it has been around forever and will likely need services or upgrades before long, though I prefer to just buy an excellent long-lasting reliable TANK of a mower for speed (time consumption), ease, and convenience. I would say there is approximately 3 acres of non-pasture/yard space to mow, mostly all flat, and I have a 7ft clearance to manuever in/out/between my obstacles. \*If ever the need arises, I would be interested in having a mower that can supplement/manage mowing my land if there were ever to be any issues with the tractor to mow all 10 of my acres\* I have yet to get to my Kubota dealer to check out brand new deals and or sales, because as a wiseman told me, "for these mowers that last forever- why would anyone be selling them unless there's issues". It is a fair point, but people downgrade/upgrade for various reasons that could be legitamite. I do like brand new stuff that only I have had my hands on, but I am not necessarily excited about a giant price tag that will come with the need to finance and make monthly payments...probably for the maximum allowed time frame (32mo). I will add this is my first time.....owning land...mowing with something bigger than a push mower...driving tractors...I am F-R-E-S-H. So for that reason, I am kinda okay spending much less on a used "Starter" ZT to ensure the compatability to perhaps upgrade to something new and more serious in the future. I have scoured FB market place (I wont use CL) and have found 3 great options,...
