JD 4520 840 hours, 800 of them on the tractor when I bought it. I know, well I think, this is not a simple “Oh, just do this.” kind of thing so I’m really looking for a starting point or what to look at or for. I’ve checked the hydraulic fluid level and it’s at max on the dipstick, and I don’t see any leaks while using the tractor, or after it sits. I had to plow my driveway for snow recently. 37 inches, not bad for my first winter at the new place LOL. I noticed two things. The first is that when I use the control stick to raise/lower the loader, no matter whether I had the plow or bucket on, the control does not stop when I let go. The same applies to the rear hitch. I attached a box blade to get snow I missed, and if I raise that, and let go, I have to give it a little push to get it to stop, raising or lowering. I believe the best description for the loader control would be that it does not self center and stop the last function I applied. I plan to remove the cover and see if there are loose screws, bolts, springs or whatever the control stick uses in its connection down the line. Not sure what to check on the rear hitch control as it’s just a straight back or forward mechanism. Any other areas or things I should check? Valves or connections in line? The second thing I noticed is that, once again, no matter what attachment I have on the loader, the right side (while sitting on the tractor) always lowers faster than the left, so that I would be leaving snow that had to be re-plowed on the left because the right side was on the ground already and the left was not as far down, maybe 5 to 6 inches higher than the right side. After plowing, I re-attached the bucket to move the piles further back and the result was the same. Not sure where to even start looking at that one, though I did look to see if both pistons were straight, which by eye, they look to be. Any ideas/advice greatly appreciated.
