Hi guys, new John Deere owner here, I just purchased a 185 hydro lawn tractor on the weekend. It fired up fine at the guys house and I took it for a spin, got it dropped off at my house and it fired up fine to back off the sellers trailer and then it fired up again so I could drive it into my garage. After that I had it fire up once, bog out and then nothing. After many attempts to start it I went through whatever fuel was left in it so I filled the tank up with the some fresh gas. Now the engine barely cranks except for the odd time that I’ll get half a turn. Battery is fine, solenoid clicks when I turn the ignition and seems to send power fine to starter. When I disconnect the jumper wire from the solenoid to the starter and hook a multimeter up, I am seeing 12 volts when I turn the ignition and if I jumper right from battery to that terminal I am getting clicking but no cranking. Does this sound like a starter or a solenoid issue? Thanks in advance
I have a JF 185 Hydro, I brought it used about 3 years ago and it's working just fine. But I want to know if I need to add oil to the Hydro engine? Does anyone have this model that can give me some maintenance ideas. Thanks
I got one that needs a new transmission and was wondering if any other john mowers have compatible transmissions? Found some 185 transmissions on ebay but there are lots of whole mowers out there for way less that I could just swap out.
