About 3 years ago I bought a LA175 because I thought JD made a quality product and I mow about 3 acres lawn. I was wrong. The first year I didn't have any issues however since then things have gone down hill - only about 350 hours of use. The mower is kept covered in a shed out of the weather. Last year I had a gas tank issue - 4 tries getting a proper tank. The original design was such that if yo

John Deere LA175 Riding Mower - This mower was purchased several years ago based upon the John Deere Name. Since this mower was purchased, it has been one problem after another. First, the throttle has had to be replaced twice, and it still does not work right. The problem is when the handle is pushed wide open to cut lawn, the handle creeps down and will not stay in fast idle. Second problem is t

We bought a LA175 John Deere tractor mower with a K46Ac transmission that went out after 202 hours. We like the mower features except for transmission problems that will cost approximately $1,000 to replace. We were mislead at the time of purchase as to the capabilities of the machine. It is now just out of warranty, but low hours. John Deere should stand by their inferior products that are being

I bought an LA175 from Lowe’s assuming I had bought a “quality” machine. I was told by Lowe’s this was the machine I needed due to hills and grades on my property. The transmission was failing before the first mowing season was done. I have since installed a $1,600 transaxle upgrade kit which replaces the original transaxle. I did rebuild the original axle with factory parts, but it began failing

I'm on my second LA 175 in two years. There are problems with the bracket on the belt tensioner pulley, breaking three times on the first mower. Lowe's gave me a new mower last fall. I only have 57 hours on this one, and now it's having the same problem. It must be some kind of design flaw. It's a good thing I bought extended warranty. I don't have much faith in these mowers.
