Known Issues
Hi everyone, I have a John Deere 940 tractor (similar to the 1040) and I need some help identifying a part I found. I opened a plug in order to clean the mesh screen. The plug/hole is located under the transmission. After removing the mesh, I discovered a loose metal pipe inside the hole. Details: Pipe diameter: about 0.39 inch Length: about 7.9 inches One end has a 45° angle Other end has a 90° angle The pipe is loose inside and I cannot take it out because of its shape See attached images My questions: 1.What is this metal pipe? 2.What is its purpose? 3.Is it normal for it to be loose? 4.Should it be connected somewhere, and if yes, how? I want to make sure nothing is damaged or disconnected before I close everything back.
I need some help, I have a JD1040 2WD tractor 1980. My problem is that she blows the seal in the lift/hydraulic pump. I had the pump seal professional replaced and put everything back as they were with fresh hydraulic fluid. I started up the tractor and after a few minutes it started leaking fluid through the new seal. Some people told me that the release valve might be stuck, my problem is I don't know where the release valve is in this tractor. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.
