Known Issues
Soo, getting a bit of deja vu here, trying to start the tractor but nothing. In the link below I had the same issue and was resolved by going from neutral back to park and voila. Not this time. I've tried everything I can think of, safety switch seems fine, battery has ~12.7V tried charging/jumping from both battery and starter. Strangely, I would at least think the lights should work but maybe I'm wrong!? I had it running about 2 months ago plowing the snow but I sprung a gasket leak at the trans filter so I just parked it until weather was a bit better. I did have to jump it then to get it to cold start but fired up without issue. https://www.reddit.com/r/tractors/s/7ADG2oDUcE
Like the title says, I tried to start the tractor and nothing. A couple of days ago I was moving gravel with it and it died on me, I'm thinking it ran out of diesel cause the guage was showing near empty. I quit for the day and put diesel in the next morning, tried starting it and nothing. Put the battery on the charger as I previously had phantom power issues draining it and figured that may be the issue. Put the battery back in this morning and nothing, can't hear the starter or anything. I just bought it a few weeks ago and the battery just has a piece of rubber sitting on top of it to stop the terminals from touching the hood. That had fallen off partly while I was working and I'm wondering if that could have possibly arked and killed the starter!? Checked the battery voltage and it's fine. Suggestions? First time owning/operating a tractor, any help is appreciated.
I thoroughly cleaned and rebuilt the Holley carburetor due to a poor idling issue. The engine ran before hand. I reinstalled the carb and no fuel is getting to the float bowl, but the sediment bowl is full. Thoughts?
Got a ‘68 Pre force 5000 ford. 233 engine. Distributor cap shit the bed, center contact is destroyed so no spark. Only one I can find is an obscure aftermarket for 130 dollars on yesterdays tractors. OEM is pretty well unobtainium at this point and if my dealer can’t find it he’s going to rush order it from somewhere if any are in the country at all. If that falls through, does anybody know of any alternatives? Seems really weird to me that this part is so hard to find, I tried all the cross numbers and nothing.
I haven't fully ruled out the battery yet as I was only getting an 11 volt reading after charging over night. When I try to start it, it makes a almost flowing sound, I can only describe as a heavy stream or waterfall. Doesn't sound mechanical. Any idea what that sound is? Anyway, I initially got a few clicks of the starter but nothing after except the noise mentioned above.
